In USA APR or Annual Percentage Rate is defines as Period Rate times Number of Periods, so to get to period rate from APR:

APR/Periods.

Thanks for the note about UK!

Hi,

Not quite sure if there is a UK/US difference in terminology but an annual interest rate is usually quoted inclusive of compounding. So to convert an annual rate to a monthly rate you would not do Rate/Periods, you would do Rate^(1/periods)-1.

Love your videos btw

Dear DesiMC,

You are welcome. But I think that you probably have a good accounting plus brain!

Dear DesiMC,

I do have videos that show how to use the PV function. If you go to the ExcelIsFun channel, you can search all my videos. I have a few about PV. Currently, I do not have one covering IRR. This fall I will post a complete finance series (about 100 videos), but that won’t help you know.

You should check out my Finance Playlist called: “Excel Finance Tricks Series 1-17″. Go to my Channel and search for all Playlists. This series will help you with your class.
