Yes, but the fees will go up when they find out. One way to defer paying a higher rate will be to prepay for as much insurance as they will let you (this is usually a year). You could always do the same thing with your present insurer. Prepay as much as they will let you. If they ask why, say you like the savings you get from paying for a whole year of insurance up-front.

For most insurance companies, a premium period is 6 months. Now, a ticket will stay on your insurance for a 3 year period. Your insurance premium will not be increased until after this period is over, but you will continue paying an increased premium for a total of 3 years. So even if you switch insurance companies, and pay for a year in advance, as soon as you enter a new policy period, your rates will go up, and continue to stay at that increased rate for 3 years. Not to mention, if you stay with the company you are currently with, you will receive a discount before too long called a persistency discount, which you will have to wait longer for if you switch to another company.

Good Luck.

it will go up a decent amount because the insurance company will look at it as if you didnt learn your lesson with the first ticket

The increase will have more to do with your zip code, age, gender. Also your vehicle type, airbags, car alarm, etc. plays an important role in determining rates.

Because of so many factors, it is easier to get two car insurance quotes – One with zero violations and then change your violation information to see the difference in premiums.

Cheap car insurance is best found by investing time, educating yourself and comparison shopping. Many online websites are designed to be an invaluable resource for insurance shoppers like you in this process. One of the top websites is InsureMe. Go to: http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=614506&Type=auto. You can get up to five insurance quotes from insurance agents who can help you make the best decision regarding your insurance. Once again, shop around, get multiple quotes, and learn all you can about a policy before you buy car insurance.

Take care,
Ron @ InsureMe
