why is this section filled with spammers/bots advertising sites?

If you report them persistently your trust rating will increase and you should be able to remove their spam within minutes of reporting eventually.

I continuously report the spammers. If we all did, they would be removed faster.
I don’t report the non-answers like two which were already here, from people wasting everybody’s time just to get their 2 points. I have on occasion reported blatant advertising and scammers.
