Many of the best rewards cards require good or excellent credit. Personally, I just go for the rewards card(s) that will pay me the most for my normal spending. Then I funnel all my normal spending through my cards and pay off the balance in full every month. That way I build credit, avoid interest, and earn maximal rewards.

get one of those
Major credit cards are American Express, Discover, Visa, and Mastercard. Many different banks offer Visa or Mastercard (the most widely accepted cards) with a wide range of terms.
I recommend you find one with a reward program that suits you. I prefer cashback. Charge normal purchases on the card and pay the balance at the end of the month.
