I don’t think cutting everything equaly would help at all.

welfare for instance uses up only 1% of the budget. If you had a dollar in pennies and lost one how much time and effort would you put on trying to recover it. Moreover since at least half that penny is legitimately spent how much time and effort woyuld you put trying to recover half a penny.

However the military takes up 57% of your spending if you lost 57 of your pennies I bet you’d want to recover most of them or at least half.

I would, but it’d never pass. Fiscal responsibility is not something that the vast majority of Americans are ready to embrace from the richest to the poorest.

If that were the only way to cut spending well then O.K., but honestly there are many stupid programs that could be lost entirely with little or no significant impact.
